Yooperlite

General Information: Yooperlite is a trade name for syenite rock containing fluorescent sodalite inclusions, discovered in 2017 by Erik Rintamaki along the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (the "Yooper" Peninsula). Under normal light, these stones appear as unremarkable gray rocks; under ultraviolet (UV) light, they glow with vivid orange, yellow, and red fluorescence.

Origin Locations: Lake Superior shores, Upper Peninsula of Michigan, USA; also found along Lake Huron shores and parts of Ontario, Canada.
