Equinox Crystals

About This Crystal

General Information: Unakite is a metamorphic rock composed of pink orthoclase feldspar, green epidote, and sometimes clear quartz. Named after the Unaka Mountains on the North Carolina-Tennessee border where it was first described, its distinctive salmon-pink and green mottled pattern is immediately recognizable.

Origin Locations: United States (Appalachian Mountains), South Africa, Sierra Leone, and Brazil.

Related Chakras: Heart

Metaphysical Properties: Unakite is a stone of vision, emotional balance, and the integration of past experiences into present wisdom and wholeness. It is believed to work gently but persistently to release deeply held emotional blockages — particularly those rooted in past relationships or childhood experiences — and to support the growth of new, healthy emotional patterns. Practitioners use it as a companion for long-term emotional healing work, valuing its patient, steady, and nurturing energy that neither forces nor rushes the healing process. Unakite is also associated with pregnancy and the development of new life — both literal and metaphorical. It encourages the balanced integration of spiritual insight (green epidote) and emotional warmth (pink feldspar) in one's lived experience.

Identification Tips: Distinctive mottled salmon-pink and olive-green coloration; opaque; waxy luster; hardness 6–7; the characteristic two-color combination of pink and green is immediately recognizable and unlike most other stones.

Popular Uses: Emotional healing, heart work, pregnancy support, long-term healing, vision, meditation, jewelry, home décor.
