Shungite

General Information: Shungite is a unique, carbon-rich mineraloid found only in the Karelia region of Russia, estimated to be approximately 2 billion years old. It contains fullerenes — a unique form of carbon — and is the only known natural mineral to do so. It ranges from matte black (Type III) to a highly polished, semi-metallic black (Elite or Noble Shungite, Type I).
