Satin Spar

General Information: Satin Spar is a fibrous, silky variety of gypsum (calcium sulfate dihydrate) that displays a beautiful chatoyant sheen due to its parallel fibrous structure. It is commonly sold and used interchangeably with Selenite in the crystal market, though it is technically a distinct variety of gypsum with a fibrous rather than crystalline habit.

Metaphysical Properties: Satin Spar carries a bright, clarifying, and cleansing energy closely aligned with selenite. Identification Tips: White to translucent with a silky, fibrous chatoyant sheen; extremely soft — hardness 2 (easily scratched by a fingernail); somewhat heavy for its size; parallel fibrous structure visible in wands and towers. Do not immerse in water — dissolves slowly.
