About This Crystal

General Information: Pietersite is a brecciated silicified crocidolite (blue asbestos) and other fibrous minerals embedded in a chalcedony matrix. It was discovered in 1962 by Sid Pieters and is found in only two locations worldwide. It is also known as the Tempest Stone due to its swirling, storm-like patterns of blue, gold, and red.

Origin Locations: Namibia and China (the only two known deposits).

Related Chakras: Third Eye, Solar Plexus, Sacral

Metaphysical Properties: Pietersite is known as the Tempest Stone or the Stone of Vision — a high-vibration crystal associated with profound spiritual awakening, the activation of psychic abilities, and the dissolution of conditioning and belief systems that no longer serve one's evolution. It is believed to carry the energy of a storm — transformative, electric, and clearing — sweeping away old thought patterns, limiting beliefs, and false structures to reveal the authentic core of the self beneath. Practitioners regard it as one of the most powerful stones for third eye activation, inner vision, and the experience of direct spiritual insight. It supports those undergoing rapid, intense spiritual transformation.

Identification Tips: Swirling, storm-like patterns of blue, gold/amber, and red/brown chatoyancy; strong silky chatoyant flash; opaque; waxy luster; hardness approximately 7; distinguished from tiger's eye by its more chaotic, swirling patterning.

Popular Uses: Psychic activation, spiritual transformation, Third Eye work, vision, advanced meditation, energy grids.
