About This Crystal

The colors are produced by different mineral impurities during the silicification process.

Origin Locations: Arizona (USA — Petrified Forest National Park), Indonesia, Madagascar, Egypt, and Argentina.

Related Chakras: Root, Third Eye

Metaphysical Properties: Petrified Wood is a stone of deep time, patience, and the wisdom of transformation through steady, gradual change. It carries an ancient, tree-like energy — rooted, patient, resilient, and connected to the cycles of growth, season, and change across vast time scales. Practitioners work with it to cultivate grounded patience, to deepen one's connection to ancestral and earth wisdom, and to support the healing of generational patterns. Petrified Wood is also associated with past-life exploration and the ability to access wisdom from previous experiences. It encourages stability, steady growth, and a calm, rooted confidence in the process of becoming.

Identification Tips: Original wood grain preserved in stone; brown, tan, gray, red, and sometimes vivid multi-colored; waxy to vitreous luster; hardness 7 (silicified); wood rings and grain clearly visible.
